Masks

Today, masks are common. People wear them for protection from illness, when they are sick, and in various work environments. But for many years, I hid behind a mask. I tried to be perfect and let everyone believe that I was "fine." But the truth was that I felt like I was damaged goods. I felt that I needed to pretend to be someone else, because no one would love me for who I really was.

But, of course, that was a lie. Jesus loved me for me and died on a cross to save me. I had to learn that to be authentic we need to be transparent. In those difficult times, instead of saying "I'm fine," we need to share with someone how we're really doing and ask for prayer. When we shine light into the dark areas of our life, we give God the ability to do His work in us and heal us from our brokenness.  This was a hard lesson for me to learn, and I lost a lot of time pretending, and hiding.

Today, if your are hurting, reach out to someone and let them know, and ask them to pray for you! Don't live a lie anymore. We all need Jesus and each other.
