IDOLS

How do we make God first in our lives? It means we need to let go of anything we are going to first, in place of God, like idols. I used to think idols were like the golden calf the Israelites asked Aaron to make when Moses was gone too long for their liking. And what emerged from their impatience, bubbling to the surface, was the idol worship and false Gods they had been exposed to in Egypt.

What comes to the surface when I am exposed to things from my past? What is my go-to when God is silent longer than I like? I am still leaning into that. I am still checking my spirit when life gets uncomfortable, still emptying. What I do know is that it's not a one-and-done. The idols | let go of in my past, like people and money, could creep back in if I don't keep God first. I need to make time for Him and choose to keep our relationship first.
